The Summer Of Discontent..By Spartacus.

Looks like it's all coming together in a perfect storm.

The Law Comm does a U turn on defining "Plying for Hire".

The deregulation bill has clauses meaning a free for all outside London and likely inside and the Law Comm report will be looking to allow this also.

Now we have the statement from Leon (Olympic lanes) Daniels of TfL that they know that Über and others are breaking the law, TfL intend to DO NOTHING despite being the licensing authority appointed by parliament to do so.

Of course it's easy for TfL to do this as they known that some trade orgs need the PR of going to a staged meeting over anything meaningful to expose TfL.

What will these meetings talk about, a consultation on TfL seeking to duck their responsibilities and of course find a way of allowing big business to shaft the working driver?

TfL are the authority to take action,

However others are made of sterner stuff and a range of high profile direct actions are being planned that will bring the glaring light on the shortcomings of TfL, The Mayor , The TfL Board etc.

Also the GLA will be calling TfL to account about Cabs, Enforcement, Accountability, Cable Cars, Barclays non payments and much more.

No doubt Boris will fight tooth and claw to 'bury bad news' before the elections this year and next.

Your duty to yourself, the cab trade and the citizens of London is to ensure that does not happen.

Let's have THAT on the advan!

Malfeasance of public office.

If TfL are aware and admit infractions of law are taking place, surely their stance of non enforcement brings Hendy, Daniels,Chapman and more seriously Boris Johnson directly in the firing line for charges of gross misconduct of public office, which is a criminal offence. The behaviour of these people has clearly fsllen below an acceptable level and the must be challenged. If yhis doesn't happen the London Taxi trade is as good as finished and the criminals named will walk away scot free !!!

Misconduct in Public Office:

Misconduct in public office is an offence at common law and carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. It is an offence confined to those who are public office holders and is committed when the office holder acts (or fails to act) in a way that constitutes a breach of the duties of that office.

It's about time an official complaint is filed and Johnson, Hendy,Daniels and Chapman are all charged and held accountable for their blatant disregard of duty to office and the consequences of their negligence. 1000's of lives have been devastated by rapes and sexual assualts due to TfL's failed illegal strategies !

Daniels admittance to non enforcement of known infractions of the law and irregularities in licensing is enough evidence of negligence for him to be sacked immediately. It's time for action Steve, Spend some of that mouldy money in the LTDA coffers that we have sll contributed to over the years!

In Sir Peter Hendy's case ,using GLA/TFL computers to visit adult
websites during his working hours.A sackable offence if any other member of staff under him,did such a thing. But it okay for the big boss.

Who is going to make the offical complaint?

Which driver organisation is going to make an offical complaint to the police?

And how can the police investigate themselves when they are also complicit into turning a blind eye?

What about the fact that Hendy gave the hooker Oyster Cards?. You can be pretty certain he didn't buy them he probably stole them. It doesn't matter if its £10 or £10,000, theft is theft and he should be prosecuted. Why have none of the trade orgs filed a formal complaint to the Met?

Because the trade organisations only deal with small potato issues to boost their dwindling memberships. Short term gain has always been their focus.

Ie: The Shard... you only have yo look at the LCDC's twitter time line - it's littered with advertising: Free associate memberdhip for knowledge boy's, links for how to join the LCDC etc... all signed off GD.
It's pretty obvious Davis is desperate for new members.

Go to the demo - but be aware of just how unsincere Grant Davis is!!!

The journey of a thousand miles starts with one step forward.

Things are happening at national level
Unite, RMT and GMB preparing their sponsored MPs to lobby parliament.
Demos are arranged in Liverpool, Manchester...
It's now up to the drivers in London to come together on this big picture, never mind little actions like the Shard.
We need to stop London
And on a regular basis until TfL listen and start doing their job
The job we pay them to do.

Our licence fees used to be ring fenced, but with SIP that is no longer the case and they are virtually stealing our money, money that should be spent on new ranks etc.

Until we bring London to a full stop...they will just carry on
Who care about a cul-de-sac being blocked for an hour

Stop the buses for 4 hours and TfL will choke on their corporate free dinners.

Thanks for the orange box rant . I will make a commitment to support any multi-union demo when and if it happens... in the meantime I will wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and keep paying those subscription fees.
You are going to need a bigger orange box to convince me!!!

The tim to take action was 2 years ago. There was a group called Cabbies Against Boris which was campaigning to challenge tfl on all issues. This was the time to act. Bojo could have been forced to make changes BEFORE the mayoral election. Most taxi drivers were too dumb to see what they were told was going to happen

"Nothing ever happens, the needle returns to the start of the song and we all sing along like before"

Sums up the general attitude of the London cab driver.

Face it boys and girls the games cattled and we cattled it with our arrogance and apathy.
