TfL's Informal Statement On Proposed Ride Share App.

TfL have informally announced today on their Q&A account @TfLTPH that as far as they are concerned, passenger sharing apps such as UberPool are legal.

TfL now say the confusion is in the statement made by Sir Peter Hendy when questioned by Caroline Pidgeon in front of the transport committee of the GLA.

@TfLTHP are saying that Hendy was referring to the UberPop service —which is banned across most of Europe— which uses unlicensed cars and unlicensed drivers.

Going by what they have said today on Twitter it looks a racing certainty that TfL will be licensing Uber's ride share App UberPool, under the Transport Act 1985, which they say permits ride sharing in London.

You can only ride share on a not for profit basis and it must be meaningful!

e.g I work in Enfield and a colleague or nearby worker wants a lift they can offer a contribution towards cost?,what it doesn't allow is Joe Soap acting as an illegal PH operator.

More nonsense.

If they are going to enforce the Tansport act 1985, then they have got to enforce all other acts of law .
Have a look at the Adstract of law regarding operators

So there will be a demo ... there will be press coverage ... cabbies are Luddites ...
there will be a court case .... Uber will win .... Judge weighed on ....

THEY WANT UBER AND NOTHING WE DO WILL STOP THEM, IN FACT IF I WAS UBER I WOULD DO WHATEVER I WANTED BCOZ TFL ARE WEAK,WEAK,WEAK.

Id go so far (if i was uber) to keep pushing and pushing put Illuminated signs on roofs tell drivers to CARRY ON ranking and go for it.

WE HAVE NO FRIENDS ANYWHERE ... NO ONE CARES ... NO ONE'S BOTHERED

Here endeth the lesson

I thought ride sharing only applied to the Licensed Taxi trade from Licensed Taxi
ranks organised by marshals eg the old Paddington rank ,Buckingham Palace,Chelsea Flower show. The old public carriage office and the new tfl produced bingo charts for pricing. If uber share goes ahead and revenue from bus and tube fares get hit see
how long the scheme will last and watch the gla come down on them.

TFL is crippling the private hire company and the law abided suburban taxis are earning way lower than the minimum wage, they not getting tax from any one, uber is way tooooo smart to pay a penny and ph company's are hardly making money , TFL IS A DISGRACE ,
